ZENITH

1865, ZENITH is born in the Swiss Jura thanks to the initiative of Georges Favre-Jacot, one of the most mythical names amongst high quality watchmakers. A 22 year old visionary, he is the first to create the real concept of a watchmaking manufacture.

Zenith has a long reputation for the quality and precision of their watches, with 1,565 1st-place precision awards to date. Most Swiss watchmakers use stock movements from suppliers like ETA but Zenith have the distinction that they make their own mechanical movements, the Elite (standard movement) and the El Primero (chronograph).Throbbing at 36,000 vibrations per hour, the El Primero movement created in 1969 was the first integrated automatic chronograph, a triumph over the challenge to fit in the smallest possible space a maximum of technical functionality. Today it still is the fastest automatic chronograph and the most precise in the world.

Zenith was purchased by luxury giant LVMH in November of 1999, becoming one of several brands in LVMH's watch and jewelry division.
