OMEGA

In 1885, Louis Brandt launched his first watch, a 19 caliber with a digital display of the hours and the minutes. The name "Omega" was patented in 1894. The company name " Omega, Louis Brandt and brother" was used till it was baptized Omega S.A. in 1982.

The first wristwatch OMEGA was launched in 1900 and at the end of WW1, British and American units were equipped with Omega watches.

Extraordinary Speedmaster! The Omega speedmaster chronograph was chosen by the NASA in 1965. It went on the Gemini, Skylab, Shuttle and Apollo space missions and achieved total reliability on 6 lunar landings.

Neil Amstrong was wearing an Omega speedmaster when he set foot on the surface of the Moon on July 21,1969.

Throughout its 150 year history, OMEGA has consistently played the role of pioneer in the field of watchmaking. Having collected numerous design and precision awards and produced the only watch ever to be worn on the moon (the only approved watch by the NASA), its pioneering spirit has more recently been reaffirmed by the launch of the OMEGA bijoux jewelry collection and the revolutionary Co-axial Escapement. Omega has based its caliber 2500 co-axial on the venerable Omega caliber 1120. Based on the ETA 2892, Omega has long added two jewels to the ETA design for the bi-directional, click-wheel automatic winding system. The escapement of the 2500 adds another two jewels, and another two are added to the mainspring barrel for a total of 27.
